How to use this guide: Each pathway shows a suggested 4-year course sequence. You do not need to start in Year 1 — students in grades 10–12 may enter any pathway based on interest. Pathways can be updated in your Academic & Career Plan at any time. Seniors who complete 2 or more CTE courses earn 2 bonus points; CTE completers earn 3 bonus points toward the Workforce Ready Diploma Seal.

CTE Glossary

Certification
An industry-approved exam given at the end of a CTE course. Required for a Standard Diploma. May also count as a student-selected verified credit.
Completer
A student who has taken 2 courses that "complete" a pathway together. Completer status is confirmed after graduation.
CTSO
Career and Technical Student Organization — a co-curricular organization for students enrolled in courses in that content area.
Graduation Requirement
All students must take Economics & Personal Finance and complete the Workplace Readiness Certification. See VDOE for alternatives.
