May 3: Creative Writing Team
Dinwiddie High School is the 2018-2019 first runner-up in the Virginia High School League Creative Writing state championship. Woodbridge High School took first place. Dinwiddie was the reigning 2017-2018 State Championship team. DHS took 1st and 3rd places this year in the Short Story division with senior Dean Bishop taking 3rd and senior Sofia Bowles now two-time, back-to-back state champion. There were 30 school divisions competing from across the state. The other DHS students who contributed to the win were Paris Rose-Coleman (essay), Sarah Harris (poetry), Desiree Pugh (essay), and Makayla Pope (poetry). Team Coach is Scott Brockwell.
